custom demo portal
the challenge
Clients would come to my firm for various digital assets. Some complex and interactive, while others were simple info-graphics and imagery. The problem they’d run into was the ability to reliably present said assets. A website is an obvious option, but they needed a way to present everything in one location without having to rely on a venues network.
the brainstorm
Initial ideas were portable drives, but they don’t allow for branded packaging or skinning. It needed to be a digital package and, since there was more than one client with this request, a package we could customize.
WIRE FRAMES
Once I had a direction, the early wire framing and layout were fairly simple. I approached the design with “ease of use” in mind. The original iteration only had 3 main spaces for icons. My thought was simplicity and large buttons, but placing function over form proved a better route in this instance. Version 2 saw the logo placement justified left and the addition of more spaces for icons. This allowed for more client facing options and a greater amount of content.
buzztech skin
A mock company and accompanying brand solution was created to present the finished product to our clients. Below are some of the graphics, screens and their functions.
the finished product
The end result was a custom skinned, self contained, scalable digital showcase. For increased interactivity, we optimized it for touchscreens, but a conventional mouse could be used as well.
easy customization
The beauty of the demo portal is the customization. I had to make that as simple as possible and easy to edit on the fly. Control overlay to edit the background image or color.
The icons themselves can be easily added or deleted as needed with the “+” and “x” buttons.
An onscreen keyboard ads to the ease of use and self contained nature of the portal.
